Privacy Policy

home-chef respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to everything on the site, and it is written in plain language because a privacy policy you cannot understand is not much of a policy.

Information we collect

We do not require an account to browse recipes, save dishes, or use the calculator. When you visit, our servers and standard analytics tools record technical information such as your browser type, device type, approximate location at the country or region level, the pages you view, and the time of your visit. If you contact us by email, we collect the address you write from and the contents of your message. We do not collect sensitive categories of data, and we do not ask you to create a profile to read the site.

Cookies and similar technologies

We and our partners use cookies and similar technologies to keep the site working, remember your saved recipes on your device, measure which recipes are useful, and serve advertising. Some cookies are strictly necessary for the site to function; others are optional and relate to analytics or advertising. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time, and the site will still work, though some conveniences like locally saved recipes will not persist.

Third-party services

We use Google Analytics to understand aggregate traffic and Google AdSense to display advertising. Google may use a cookie known as a DART cookie to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other sites, including personalized advertising. You can opt out of personalized advertising at any time through Google's Ads Settings at https://www.google.com/settings/ads and through the industry opt-out at https://www.aboutads.info/choices/. These providers process data under their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to review.

How we use information and our legal basis

Technical and analytics data are used to operate, maintain, and improve the site, and the legal basis is our legitimate interest in running a reliable free service. Advertising data is used to fund the site, and where personalization is involved we rely on your consent as expressed through your ad and cookie choices. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it to make decisions about you outside the operation of the site.

Data retention

Server logs and analytics are retained for a limited period, typically a few months, after which they are aggregated or deleted. Email correspondence is kept only as long as needed to answer your message and, where relevant, to act on your feedback. You can ask us to delete correspondence tied to you at any time using the contact address below.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to object to certain processing, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. To exercise any of these rights, email contact@ifood.cc and we will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law. Where a request is unusually complex we may extend that period by up to one additional month and will tell you why in writing. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

Children's privacy

home-chef is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If a parent or guardian believes we have collected information from a child, they should contact us and we will delete it promptly.

International transfer and security

Because we use globally operated service providers such as Google, information collected here may be processed in countries other than your own. We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information in transit and at rest, including HTTPS across the site. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to meet the standard you would expect of a responsible publisher. We also review our service providers periodically and retire a tool if it no longer meets that bar, because a privacy promise is only as good as the vendors behind it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time as the site or the law changes. When we do, we will revise the date at the top of the page and, for meaningful changes, say so clearly. The current version is always the one posted here, and continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy. Questions about anything above go to contact@ifood.cc.
